Ben Jeapes

Ben Jeapes is a Science Fiction writer living in the UK. He writes novels, shorts stories, reviews and has worked as a publisher and technical writer, among other things.

I contacted him about updating his old website which he had been maintaining since 1996 using basic HTML in Windows Notepad and little else. Ben was looking for a more modern looking site which he could maintain himself.

I modified the Twenty-Eleven Theme for WordPress creating custom graphics and incorporating various plugins and other functions for Ben’s site. The site is a responsive design, altering its layout based on the user’s device resolution.

It was my largest project to date, integrating well over 100 pages of content with a fully functioning blog to showcase the author’s vast amount of work, detailed biography and contact information.

James was able to combine the content of my old Web 1.0 website and blog into a single site that is much more modern and infinitely more attractive. The menu structure that he devised hugely enhances the user interface while keeping the sense and functionality of the original site. He is a pleasure to work with.

Gooch Photography

Gooch Photography is a full-service photography studio based in Philadelphia, PA that specializes in weddings and portraiture. Their style marries art and photojournalism in their imagery.

I was contacted by the owner, Tom Gooch to redesign & redevelop his website. He wanted a custom designed site to achieve a clean, professional look that highlighted his photography yet still retained a simple navigation.

The new site was custom coded using PHP calls with custom created graphics and it replaced the flash-based site for better SEO & featured better functioning, jQuery based photo galleries, WordPress integration & other features.

We also created a javascript function which enabled users to select a detailed wedding photography package, calculated their unique package’s price and passed the information along to the user and photography studio.

I contacted James to do some updates on my current site. Well after speaking to him I realized he was a true professional and I had him redo my whole site. It was a pleasure to work with him; he made the whole process painless. I have several projects in the pipeline and I plan to have him do every one. James is very talented and a true professional. He explained every step of the process and there were no hidden cost. I would highly recommend ExEivot Design for your next project.

Aubrey Therkelsen

Aubrey is a photographer and designer from New Jersey who asked me to create a comprehensive portfolio and blog that would showcase her vast amounts of undergraduate and post graduate work.

I created a digital portfolio website for her which featured all basic contact information and a plethora of gallery pages to display the enormous amount of work Aubrey has created over the years.

The site was built in WordPress by modifying the Yoko theme with custom graphics and CSS. It is a responsive layout, adapting to various screen dimensions.

I worked directly with Aubrey to create the style of the site. It was a challenge to maintain a theme which would not distract the viewer from her work while adding aesthetic appeal to the site.

I came to James Minshall for help designing my fine art portfolio website. James had very little direction as to how I wanted to represent my professional work; it’s hard to imagine a website from scratch. James was able to ask questions pertaining to my personal prefereces in design and color, in order to pull out information that enabled him to pinpoint a professional, appropriate and creative website. It was exactly what I wanted and needed. He drafted several very different mockups to give me interface, font, color, and overall design options. I couldn’t be more pleased with the final result!

James Minshall

My personal website, created in WordPress by modifying the Yoko theme. It is a constant experiment in web design where I test plugins, javascript, create and optimize content for SEO and blog.

I began working on this site independently of my freelance design in 2011 and the site has grown steadily. I use it to write about news and science, post humor and videos or just vent my thoughts.

The site is build with custom graphics, a PHP function that rotates background imagery, contact info, social media integration, various Javascript snippets such as an RSS based news ticker and much more. It is responsive and degrades based on screen width for any size device.
